just a little update….she now weights 11lbs 12.5 oz. no other measurements this month, as she did not have a doctors appointment. she is drinking 5 or 6 oz of formula at a time, sleeps most of the night, and smiles the most adorable smile. she likes tummy time (for a while) and is trying to roll over. she still likes watching the fans, but now she also likes to watch her big brother C play. she reaches for the toys on her play mat too! today she went swimming in the pool with dad & big brother for the first time. as you can see she was not happy for her “chalk” picture, we may try again tomorrow.

“It’s a happy talent to know how to play” {Ralph Waldo Emerson}

so glad to catch a glimps of you playing. love you C. mom

today’s words of wisdom come with background information. for those of you that know me, you will understand when i say that my son comes by his verbal skills rightfully. i talk a lot, and to anyone. in fact, it’s been said that i could make friends in a cemetary. now, i know that what goes around, comes around; so some of this is karma. (my mom says i never stopped talking). lately, C has been driving me nuts with his constant jabbering. he will ask the same question over and over, or say the same thing several times, even after i have responded to him. and now, when he’s not talking he’s making some kind of noise. from the time he gets up until he’s asleep, it’s constant noise from that boy! i think you get my point. so on to the words of wisdom. last night my mom says to me “at least H is not talking yet”. after thinking about it last night i would have to agree. i can only imagine the volume of noise that will be coming from my house once she does start talking. here are my words of wisdom “enjoy the noise now, because someday it will be double!”

today’s picture of C was taken by my dear friend and fabulous photographer nancy. there is a link to her site at the bottom of this page. thanks nancy! and the picture of H is just because.

dear C,
i love watching you play. you are one creative kid. you can play with a variety of your toys together, like batman in the teenage mutant ninja turtle base, or star wars guys that shoot g.i. joe {actually just the cobra bad guys}. in one short day you can play with cars, dudes {any action figure is a dude},puzzles, marbles, lincoln logs, legos, monster trucks, and dress up {like batman of course}. and i am continually impressed with your knowledge of toys. this photo is an example of a toy i thought you had no idea about, but true to form, you were able to tell me all about bionicles. i hope that you continue to grow and expand your ability to play, because that’s what being a kid is all about. and while i desperately wish to get rid of some of your toys, i totally understand your connection with them; each one {even the ones you don’t play with anymore} are special to you. how about you pick them up for me buddy? please!
love, mommy

peace like a river

June 5, 2009

tonight as i was holding the baby and rocking her to sleep, i was listening to http://www.pandora.com/music/song/elizabeth+mitchell/peace+like+river this song by Elizabeth Mitchell. it was so calming and i couldn’t help but think about these photos of her that i took a few days ago. nothing is as sweet as a sleeping baby. it seems like every time i look at her i see changes. she grows every single day. and in the blink of an eye she will be too old to sit and rock in the rocking chair with her momma. so for tonight i will just enjoy our quiet time, rocking and listening and feeling peaceful. i love you baby girl, love momma.

for all of you that follow, here is the story of C’s naughtiness. i guess since a few days have past, it really was not that naughty, it’s more that i don’t understand why boys do the things they do. and after consulting with a few friends that also have boys, it appears to be a pretty normal thing for boys to do.

on thursday morning, i found pee in my bathroom trashcan. when C was confronted, he fessed up rather quickly, and when asked “why” – he really had no answer. so what i’ve come to conclude is that he did it because he can (something i will never understand, because i will never be able to aim that well) and it could have been far worse (let’s just say i’m glad it wasn’t a shoe, a purse, a drawer, a chimney, or behind the couch). in case you were wondering, no i didn’t get a picture of it, and yes i made him clean it up. i’m hoping we won’t have this problem again (but from the stories i heard, i doubt it). and because i love the little dude, these are just a random shots of his cuteness from our little photoshoot on mother’s day. i love you C!
